BestOBD

Scope

This policy covers the BestOBD app for iOS, which connects to ELM327-compatible OBD-II adapters over Bluetooth LE or Wi-Fi to read live vehicle data and trouble codes.

Vehicle data stays on your device

There are no accounts and no BestOBD servers. Data read from your vehicle (VIN, trouble codes, live values, protocol details and the command log) is processed only on your device and is never uploaded to us or to third parties. Trip logs leave the device only when you export a CSV and choose where to share it. Live Activities are rendered locally by iOS.

Settings stored on your device

Connection preferences, the Wi-Fi adapter address, the last Bluetooth adapter’s name and identifier, the Live Activity toggle and your Pro status are stored only on your device and are removed when you delete the app.

Advertising (free version only)

The free version shows banner and interstitial ads through Google AdMob, which may collect device information (such as IP address, device model and OS version), ad interactions and crash diagnostics to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. The advertising identifier (IDFA) is used for personalised ads only if you tap “Allow” in the App Tracking Transparency prompt; otherwise only non-personalised ads are shown. Change this anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Ad services never receive vehicle data. After buying BestOBD Pro the ad SDK is no longer loaded.

In-app purchase

BestOBD Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple. We never receive your payment details, Apple ID or name — only whether the purchase is active.

Permissions

Bluetooth: finding and connecting to Bluetooth LE OBD-II adapters (never used for location). Local network: connecting to Wi-Fi OBD-II adapters. Tracking: only for ad personalisation as described above; declining does not limit any feature.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes
